Litigation Paralegal | Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, located in Philadelphia, PA, with a hybrid in-office/remote working schedule. This role is vital for supporting the Litigation and Energy and Project Development (EPD) teams by conducting legal research, drafting essential documents, and managing eFiling processes with regulatory bodies. The position directly contributes to compliance support and case management for utility regulation and energy transactions, ensuring the firm’s legal work is executed effectively.

• Team: Reports to the Manager of Legal Practice Support, supporting Litigation and Energy and Project Development (EPD) teams.
• Mission: To provide comprehensive compliance support and case management by conducting legal research, drafting documents, and managing eFiling for utility regulation and energy transactions.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office Suite applications, Westlaw, Lexis

What You’ll Actually Do
• Document Drafting: Assist attorneys by drafting and editing legal correspondence, memoranda, affidavits, Motions, Petitions, Testimony, Briefs, and Settlements.
• Legal Research: Conduct thorough factual and legal research, including statutes, administrative codes, and regulatory agency decisions, to support case strategies.
• Regulatory Filings: Prepare and file regulatory submissions with state and federal agencies, monitoring and tracking filings, deadlines, and docket entries.
• Case Management & Discovery: Create and maintain litigation support databases and case management systems, and develop and manage Discovery platforms for major rate cases while coordinating with clients for document uploads.
• Hearing Preparation: Assist in preparing for public input or evidentiary hearings, including preparing exhibits, reviewing transcripts, and creating witness binders for cross-examinations.

The Must-Haves
• Background: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with core domain knowledge of litigation processes.
• Experience: A minimum of 3 years of litigation experience.
• Skills: Legal drafting, factual and legal research (Westlaw, Lexis), regulatory submission preparation, litigation database management, effective verbal communication, strategic planning, strong organizational abilities.
• Bonus: Experience in an energy/utility setting or energy/utility practice. Experience in managing team dynamics and fostering a positive work environment, including mentoring junior staff.
