The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Vernis & Bowling, located in Jacksonville, FL. As an experienced Litigation Paralegal, you will be joining a dedicated legal team in a firm specializing in civil litigation defense. This position is crucial for providing comprehensive support to counsel, ensuring efficient case management, document preparation, and successful trial outcomes. You will play a vital role in organizing critical information and facilitating communication across all parties involved in legal proceedings.

The TL;DR
• Role: Full Time
• Location: In-person, Jacksonville, FL
• Mission: To provide essential paralegal support in civil litigation defense, managing legal documentation, research, scheduling, and trial preparation for attorneys.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Legal Documentation: Summarize records and court files, and draft various legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, discovery, and appeals.
• Logistical Coordination: Efficiently schedule couriers, court reporters, expert witnesses, and other essential legal functions.
• Legal Research: Conduct thorough research utilizing statutes, judicial decisions, legal articles, constitutions, and public records.
• Trial & Discovery Support: Assist in the gathering and organization of exhibits, trial data, and documents for subpoenas, discovery requests, and motions.
• Communication & Calendar Management: Serve as a liaison between counsel, clients, experts, and witnesses, while also maintaining attorneys’ calendars by scheduling conferences and depositions.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Experienced Paralegal specializing in civil litigation defense.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of civil litigation defense experience.
• Skills: Legal Research, Document Drafting, Trial Preparation, Scheduling & Coordination, Records Summarization.
