The Tone:
This is a full-time, non-exempt role at Kahana Feld, offering a hybrid work arrangement after 90 days of initial in-office employment. Kahana Feld is a legal firm providing comprehensive litigation support across various practice areas. This Paralegal position is essential for supporting attorneys and other departments by coordinating and managing complex legal documents and processes, ensuring efficient operation throughout all stages of litigation. The role contributes directly to the firm’s ability to deliver high-quality legal services by maintaining organized case files and assisting with critical court preparations.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Legal Document Management: Coordinate, organize, prepare, and interpret complex legal documents under the supervision of an attorney.
• eDiscovery & Research: Conduct electronic document reviews, coordinate document productions, perform searches of production databases, and conduct legal and factual research.
• Litigation & Court Preparation: Assist with drafting discovery, pleadings, and status reports, and prepare materials for court hearings, depositions, and trials, providing support to attorneys as needed.
• Case File Maintenance: Review and maintain comprehensive case files, compile documents for filing with courts and relevant agencies, and draft summaries of discovery responses and records.
• Administrative Coordination: Organize case-related team meetings, process vendor invoices for accuracy, and communicate with filing clerks, court room assistants, and external vendors.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Early career legal professional with experience as a legal secretary or paralegal, preferably specializing in personal injury or construction defect cases within New York State.
• Experience: At least 1 year of experience working as a legal secretary or paralegal.
• Skills: Strong organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively; excellent written and verbal communication skills with a professional demeanor; keen attention to detail and accuracy in document preparation and file management; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications; ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Bonus: Familiarity with third-party e-filing providers such as One Legal, First Legal, Odyssey File & Serve, and Green Filing; knowledge of PACER and the federal Judiciary’s Case Management/Electronic Case Files (CM/ECF) system.
