What You’ll Actually Do
• Legal Research & Document Preparation: Independently research law sources such as statutes, judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, constitutions, and legal codes, investigate facts, and draft a variety of legal documents including briefs, pleadings, appeals, reports, correspondence, declarations, complaints, and affidavits for attorney review and use.
• Case File Management: Systematically organize and index case files, maintain document files, determine and calendar all relevant deadlines, and perform general scheduling tasks.
• Litigation Support: Assist attorneys in preparing for mediations, trials, and depositions, and provide direct support to attorneys during trial proceedings.
• Information Synthesis: Summarize complex legal documents and perform a wide variety of legal research and data compilation with little or no supervision.
• Administrative & Communication: File pleadings with the court clerk, communicate effectively with witnesses and experts, and accurately enter billing and expense data into the firm’s system in a timely manner.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Paralegal certification / degree from an accredited college or university, with core domain knowledge preferably in labor/employment litigation practice.
• Experience: Minimum of 4 years of paralegal experience, with a preference for experience working specifically in a labor/employment litigation practice.
• Skills: Proficiency in all Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), legal research platforms (Lexis-Nexis, WestLaw), litigation support tools (Live Note, Concordance, Case Map), docketing systems, document management systems, and firm expense and billing systems.
