• Team: Supports attorneys within the Keith L. Shoji & Associates staff counsel office, which is comprised of Legal Administrative Support, Legal Secretary, and Paralegal roles.
• Mission: Support attorneys in civil litigation matters by providing high-quality legal services in a cost-effective manner.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Discovery Support: Assist attorneys with drafting, serving, and responding to discovery requests under supervision.
• Case Management: Support attorneys in handling assigned case files and delivering other legal services under supervision.
• Trial Preparation: Prepare cases for court appearances, depositions, and trial, including contacting experts and clients.
• Medical Records Analysis: Handle medical record collection, summarize medical records and billing, and create medical chronologies.
• Legal Document Drafting: Draft motions and pleadings in support of litigation efforts.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Prior litigation or paralegal experience, combined with a paralegal degree/certificate/certification, medical training, or a relevant legal studies degree. Candidates must meet the California Business & Professions Code 6450 requirements for paralegals.
• Experience: A minimum of 2 years of recent civil litigation experience, preferably within insurance defense or personal injury. This includes proven experience in drafting discovery responses, preparing for trial, and drafting motions and pleadings, along with familiarity with California court rules and procedures.
• Skills: Strong organizational skills, the ability to work independently, prioritize a varied workload, multi-task effectively in a dynamic environment, and communicate clearly both verbally and in writing, with keen attention to detail.
• Technology: Strong software and technical proficiency, specifically with Evermap and/or Adobe Bookmarking, and working knowledge of both a Case Management system and a Document Storage system.
