This role directly supports attorneys on the litigation team, helping to advocate for clients and contributing to a firm culture that values both professional growth and work-life balance. The firm offers a supportive environment with a 90-day hands-on training program to build paralegal skills and confidence, transitioning to an independent work style without micromanagement.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Support: Assist the New York or New Jersey workers’ compensation defense practice.
• Research: Conduct thorough research to support legal proceedings.
• Drafting: Aid in the preparation and review of legal documents.
• Investigation: Investigate facts to facilitate the negotiation of legal disputes.
• Compliance: Monitor and ensure adherence to relevant state and federal regulations.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Associate’s degree required, providing foundational legal knowledge; career level is early career as prior experience is appreciated but not required, with a 90-day training program provided.
• Experience: Previous experience as a paralegal or in the legal field is appreciated but not required. Familiarity with legal research is essential.
• Skills: Demonstrated ambition and a strong work ethic; exceptional organizational skills with an ability to manage days independently using a self-directed tasking system. Proven critical thinking skills to effectively advance claims toward closure. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and adherence to deadlines.
• Bonus: A Certificate in Paralegal Studies from an ABA-approved organization or a bachelor’s degree is preferred. Candidate must secure a notary license (firm reimburses associated costs).
