Paralegal | Motley Rice

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Motley Rice, located in an office environment where work may require more than 40 hours per week, with overtime possible. Motley Rice is a legal firm dedicated to assisting clients fairly and efficiently. This paralegal position is crucial for supporting senior paralegals and attorneys in their work, contributing directly to the successful completion of casework, documentation, and essential client interactions. The role involves performing substantive legal work under supervision, requiring a solid grasp of legal concepts to ensure comprehensive and effective client representation.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Case Investigation & Interviewing: Conduct thorough witness interviews and comprehensive case investigations utilizing various communication methods, including telephone, written correspondence, and direct in-person communication.
• Document & Database Management: Systematically organize physical documents and manage client database(s), which encompasses precise data entry, efficient document indexing, and accurate scanning of materials.
• Medical Record Analysis: Carefully review, concisely summarize, and accurately code complex medical records to extract pertinent information for legal cases.
• Factual & Legal Research: Perform detailed factual and legal research, employing resources such as WESTLAW, LEXIS, and other specialized law and/or medical libraries, robust databases, and various on-line facilities.
• General Paralegal & Administrative Support: Execute a range of general and administrative paralegal duties, including diligent maintenance of client files, drafting clear memos, and managing correspondence with clients and co-counsel.
• Special Project Coordination: Undertake and complete special projects as requested, providing flexible support to the legal team as needs arise.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Possess a Bachelor’s degree and/or a Paralegal Certificate, signifying a foundational understanding and capability to perform substantive legal work that requires knowledge of legal concepts under supervision.
• Experience: Bring three (3) to five (5) years of dedicated paralegal work experience, demonstrating practical application of legal support functions.
• Skills: Exhibit strong proficiency in the MS Office suite, be highly organized in managing tasks and documents, and demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively and collaborate well within a team environment.
• Bonus: Preferred qualifications include experience with specialized document review databases such as Relativity, and a proven track record of working effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure professional environment.
