• Position Title: Paraeducator-Independence Facilitator
• Location: Smythe K-6
• Status: Full-Time
• Hours: 7 hours/day; 5 days/week (182 work days/year)
• Salary: $20.33 – $26.87 per hour (9 annual steps, based on experience)

Position Summary:
The Paraeducator-Independence Facilitator provides individual behavior intervention and medical support to students in a classroom setting. This role involves assisting individuals or small groups of students to enhance learning. The Paraeducator also assists teachers with instruction and classroom management in special education and general education classrooms, the lunchroom, and on the play field.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide individual behavior intervention and medical support to students.
• Assist individuals or small groups of students to enhance learning.
• Assist teachers with instruction in various classroom settings.
• Help with classroom management.

Education and Experience Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of a competency assessment demonstrating knowledge and ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics.
• Completion of at least 48 college credit units may substitute for the competency assessment.
Licenses and Certifications:
• May require a valid driver’s license.
• Compliance with District skill/competency requirements.
• May require a valid First Aid/CPR card.
Required Documents:
• NCLB Compliance: 48 college units (semester) or pass the Paraeducator Proficiency Exam.
• Proof of HS Graduation: High School Diploma, High School Transcripts, or Equivalent (ex: GED).
• Resume: Provide clear evidence of required experience.
• CPR/First Aid Certificate
