Job Description: Paid Summer Nurse Internship Opportunity

This opportunity is a Paid Summer Nurse Internship Program designed for aspiring nurses at the Bismarck Med Ctr located at 300 N 7th St, Bismarck, ND 58501, USA.

Program Dates & Schedule:
Duration: The internship runs for 10 weeks, from May 26th, 2026, to August 1st, 2026.
Weekly Hours: Interns will work 36–40 hours per week.
Shift: Shifts are typically 12 hours and will be varied.

Compensation:
• Interns will be paid at a rate of $20.00 per hour.

Job Summary:
The Sanford nursing intern participates in a structured learning experience aimed at developing confidence and competence in clinical skills. The primary goal is to facilitate a smooth transition into a licensed nursing role after graduation. The program assists students in exploring different areas of nursing clinical practice to identify the best fit for their career goals, talents, and interests.

Key Responsibilities and Learning Experiences:
Mentorship: Interns will be mentored by a licensed professional within their chosen specialty to strengthen clinical skill sets.
Patient Care: Provide care to patients across all phases, including preventative care, health maintenance, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up, as patients transition through various care settings.
Professional Development: Discover enhanced methods of communicating with and supporting patients, and gain practical experience working under a real schedule as a licensed professional.
Clinical Support: Perform tasks involving direct and indirect patient care and support the overall activities of the department.
Protocol Adherence: Utilize appropriate population-specific patient care protocols and policies addressing the physical and psychological needs of patients across all age groups.
Ethical Practice: Embodies the vision and values compatible with Sanford Health, functioning strictly within the scope and standards of practice as outlined in relevant state-specific regulations.
Experience Options: Interns will have the opportunity to gain experience in inpatient, clinic, or a split of both environments.

Qualifications:
• Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited RN program (associate or bachelor degree).
• Applicants must have participated in an academic clinical experience.
• Applicants must be enrolled in a board of licensed clinical practice approved internship course. (This specific requirement does not apply to internships held in the state of South Dakota, but is relevant for North Dakota.)
