Job Description: Paid Media Intern – Subscriptions Group

The Washington Post is seeking a data-driven and collaborative intern to join their paid media team within the subscriptions group. This paid internship offers the opportunity to learn about the organization’s paid media program, encompassing marketing objectives, planning approaches, and the use of media platforms to drive both subscription acquisition and user engagement (habituation).

Responsibilities:

• Learning to utilize analytics and media buying tools to make data-backed marketing decisions.
• Supporting campaign planning and execution across multiple platforms (Facebook Ads, Google Ads, Reddit Ads, etc.).
• Identifying new media opportunities based on product mix and user experience, and creating data-driven proposals for testing.
• Sharing learnings across teams to highlight successes and identify actionable improvements.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams (marketing, subscriptions, brand/creative, and analytics) to understand campaign goals and performance.

Learning Opportunities:

• Gaining practical experience in running paid media campaigns on major digital marketing platforms.
• Working closely with digital marketing experts and receiving ongoing feedback to develop digital marketing skills.
• Developing understanding of the paid media landscape, analytics, and data-driven decision-making.
• Networking with other marketing team members and teams across The Washington Post.

Qualifications:

• Interest in learning about marketing within a news media organization.
• Inspiration from The Washington Post’s mission.
• Enrolled in a degree-seeking program.
• Ability to work 35-40 hours per week on-site in the D.C. office.
• All work samples must be submitted in English. (For foreign nationals, necessary documentation for U.S. work authorization must be provided; visa sponsorship is not offered.)

• Interns are paid hourly.
• The internship is not a guarantee of future employment, though The Post has hired from its internship program in the past.
