Job Description: Paid Internship – Ocean Vicinage

The Ocean Vicinage of the New Jersey Judiciary is accepting applications for paid internships in the Criminal Case Management and Pretrial Services Unit. Interns will gain experience and knowledge of the court system.

Salary: $20.00/hour, up to 35 hours/week, not exceeding 944 hours per fiscal year. A minimum of 10 hours per week is required.

Schedule: Hours are flexible between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. A minimum commitment of one semester is required.

Example of Duties:

• Assisting with phone calls, voicemails, and correspondence.
• Contacting and following up with applicants and the public.
• Conducting research and analysis.
• Performing computer-related work.
• Data collection and entry.
• Providing customer service.
• Drafting correspondences and memos.
• Attending community planning meetings.
• Organizing and scanning paper files; uploading to electronic systems.
• Assisting staff and performing other duties as assigned.
• Regular and predictable physical presence at the worksite is essential.

Qualifications:

• 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university, pursuing a degree.
• Unofficial college transcript must be submitted with the application.

Physical Requirements: Some positions may require climbing, prolonged standing, stretching, bending, and reaching. The ability to frequently lift and carry 30-50 pounds, and occasionally up to 75 pounds, may be necessary.

Other Requirements:

• A New Jersey driver’s license may be required depending on the position’s duties.
• Authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
• A thorough background check, including fingerprinting, will be conducted.
• In accordance with the “New Jersey First Act,” newly hired employees must establish and maintain principal residence in New Jersey (exemptions may be available).
