About the Company:
Fresh Films offers a paid accelerated film training program designed to jumpstart careers in the film and TV industry. They partner with industry giants such as Sony, Roku, and Fremantle, providing hands-on training and production experience. The program is facilitated by MRA, a large non-profit employer association serving thousands of employers and over one million employees, offering HR services and resources. MRA works directly with companies’ HR departments to place talent.
Job Description:
This is a paid filmmaking internship based in Chicago at Kennedy King College and Roosevelt University. The program provides intensive, hands-on training in film production, preparing participants for entry-level positions in the industry.
Key aspects of the program include:
• Hands-on Production: Participants will produce three projects to build their portfolio.
• Industry Experts: Training will be provided by experienced professionals from the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE).
• On-Set Experience: Opportunities to work on the set of a TV or film production, leading to an IMDb credit.
• Networking: Studio tours and speaker sessions will facilitate connections with industry professionals.
• Career Development: Resume and interview skills workshops will prepare participants for job applications.
• Stipend: A $700 stipend upon program completion, with potential for additional pay if working on-set.
Program Schedule:
• In-person classes: Tuesdays & Thursdays, February 4th to May 20th.
• Virtual sessions: Wednesdays, 6-8 pm, February 5th, 19th; March 5th, 19th; April 9th, 23rd; May 7th, 21st; June 4th. These sessions cover speaker presentations and resume building.
• Additional dates: To be announced for studio tours and events with the Illinois Film Office.
Eligibility:
• Must be an Illinois resident aged 18-29.
• High school graduation is required (college attendance or current employment is acceptable).
• Prior filmmaking experience is not required.
• Passion for film and commitment to the full program (February to June) are essential.
