As a Packer Inspector, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and efficiency of production processes, contributing directly to Greif’s commitment to operational excellence and customer satisfaction by upholding product specifications and assisting operators.

• Mission: Ensure the quality and efficiency of packaging production processes by performing inspections, setting up equipment, and troubleshooting issues.

What You’ll Actually Do
Set Up Production: Safely set up equipment to meet production requirements, including reading and interpreting work orders for packaging specifications, assisting with changeovers, and helping the machine operator with mandrel installation and adjustment.
Perform Quality Assurance: Conduct periodic quality checks using the CSAR quality system to ensure compliance with product specifications and Certificates of Analysis (COAs, and determine which nylon cutting sleeves to use and when they need changing.
Troubleshoot and Resolve Issues: Actively participate in troubleshooting and correcting various quality issues such as double cuts, fuzzy ends, burrs, and hair, applying knowledge of root cause and problem-solving methods.
Manage Material Flow: Remove finished cores as needed, manually stacking them onto pallets, racks, or into trays, and communicate regularly with the machine operator regarding material counts.
Maintain Operational Standards: Ensure compliance with all OPEX recordkeeping requirements, contributing to accurate production documentation and process adherence.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Candidates typically possess a high school diploma or equivalent. This role requires an individual who can listen, understand, and follow directions effectively.
• Experience: The position calls for individuals with a mechanical aptitude, including the ability to use various hand tools. Prior experience in roles requiring versatility and the ability to work in a variety of capacities is beneficial.
• Skills: Proficiency in basic verbal and written communication is essential. Key technical skills include the ability to calculate conversions from fractions to decimals, read a tape measure accurately, and use precision instruments like calipers and micrometers. A solid understanding of root cause analysis and general problem-solving methods is also required.
• Availability: Must be dependable and able to work a regular 10-hour shift from 5:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday through Thursday, with occasional overtime on Fridays as needed.
