Program Overview
The 2026 ORIGINS Summer Internship is a comprehensive ten-week program, running from June 1 – August 7, 2026. Interns will delve into the dynamic world of Development & Alumni Relations, gaining practical experience and developing essential skills across various facets of institutional advancement.
At Johns Hopkins, your contributions will directly support faculty and staff dedicated to transforming healthcare, advancing education, and developing technology with global impact. The Development & Alumni Relations team cultivates crucial relationships with alumni, donors, prospective students, parents, organizations, and foundations – activities collectively known as institutional advancement, development, or philanthropy.
As an ORIGINS intern, you will play an active role in these efforts through hands-on involvement in:
- Event Planning: Contributing to the successful execution of various donor and alumni engagement events.
- Prospect Research: Identifying and researching potential donors to support the university’s mission.
- Donor Stewardship: Assisting in maintaining strong relationships with current donors.
- Marketing: Developing and implementing strategies to promote advancement initiatives.
- Writing: Crafting compelling communications for donors and alumni.
- Alumni Relations: Engaging with the Johns Hopkins alumni community.
- Program Coordination: Supporting the logistical and administrative aspects of various advancement programs.

Minimum Qualifications
