Job Description

This position is for an Optical Engineer within the Missiles and Fire Control business unit, located in Orlando, Florida. The role is full-time and offers the possibility of relocation.

Responsibilities:

• Design, analyze, and test complex optical designs for Electro-Optical (EO) systems, primarily focusing on military fire control, missile, and laser systems.
• Conduct research and development in optical system concepts, layout, and detailed design, applying knowledge of geometrical and physical optics.
• Implement research findings to achieve desired hardware results.
• Initiate and support optics-related activities to improve manufacturing producibility and reduce costs.
• Maintain and update the overall system optical prescription and tolerance analyses.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Optical Engineering from an accredited 4-year college or university.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance (US Citizenship required).

Desired Skills:

• Experience with lens materials, window coatings, and lens/window fabrication.
• Knowledge of lens/window assembly and optical system test/performance evaluation.
• Ability to collaborate effectively in multi-functional engineering teams (mechanical, opto-mechanical, electrical, thermal, structural, aerodynamic, software, system, and test engineers).
• Proficiency with lens and optical design tools.
• Experience in IR missile seeker development (design, assembly, integration, bench test performance testing, environmental testing, HWIL testing, and flight testing).
• Familiarity with cryo-cooled and uncooled detector technology and gimbal system design and performance.
• Understanding of thermal, structural, and aerodynamic modeling and simulation.
• Knowledge of multi-physics tools.

Work Schedule:

• 4×10 hour day, 3 days off per week
• Part-time Remote Telework available (specific schedule to be discussed during the hiring process).
