Internship Purpose & General Summary:

As an Operations Summer Intern, you will apply your unique insights and academic knowledge to identify operational gaps and propose strategic improvements that will significantly enhance process efficiency. This 10-week experience is designed to not only challenge you but also to genuinely invest in your professional development, helping you to explore and define a potential career path within JBS Foods. This is your chance to gain invaluable experience, understand your role in the global food supply chain, and contribute directly to our mission of feeding the world.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive support to the operations team, contributing to daily activities and strategic initiatives.
  • Actively engage in learning and implementing effective and efficient operational practices within our culture of continuous improvement.
  • Shadow experienced professionals to gain insight into maintaining robust production practices that underpin the facility’s critical food safety program.
  • Experience firsthand how to monitor product quality and oversee production operations to consistently meet and exceed customer expectations.
  • Develop an understanding of how to cultivate an inclusive environment where all team members are encouraged to be active participants and contributors to the business.
  • Learn to recognize and celebrate successes, fostering a positive and motivating team dynamic.
  • Embrace challenges designed to help individuals and teams achieve more than they thought possible.
  • Shadow production supervisors to learn their day-to-day responsibilities, including the identification and resolution of problems or bottlenecks in production processes.
  • Support efforts to ensure all necessary production resources—including materials, equipment, and human resources—are readily available to maintain stringent production schedules.
  • Contribute to achieving ambitious continuous improvement goals across key areas such as safety, quality, cost, and customer service.
  • Develop and implement a practical solution to address a specific problem or bottleneck identified within the operations department.
  • Build and foster positive working relationships with hourly team members, enhancing team cohesion.
  • Learn the foundational principles of anticipating and determining causes of delays in shift operations, and taking decisive actions to meet production schedules.
  • Complete and present a significant project related to a critical issue within the operations department, showcasing your analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a four-year university or actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree.
  • Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more.

Compensation & Benefits:

The successful applicant for this position will be eligible for the following compensation structure:

  • An hourly wage of $21/hour.
  • A generous $2,500 relocation stipend to support your move.
