Job Description: Full Time Early Career Operations & Maintenance Tech Data Author (F-35 Joint-Strike Fighter)

Lockheed Martin Aeronautics is seeking a full-time early career Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Tech Data Author to create interactive electronic technical publications for the F-35 Joint-Strike Fighter.

Responsibilities:

• Authoring, validating, and maintaining organizational-level maintenance technical publications for the F-35 aircraft.
• Utilizing Lockheed Martin Aeronautics’ Technical Publications Authoring Systems, which use Extensible Markup Language (XML).
• Learning and using authoring systems and desktop publishing tools to create new manuals or update existing material.
• Applying knowledge of aircraft, mechanical, and airframe systems, airplane structure, to create publications supporting F-35 operational fleets.
• Reading and interpreting engineering, supplier, and customer documentation.
• Interacting and communicating effectively with customers, vendors, engineering teams, and other organizations to define and document aircraft maintenance requirements.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline such as Aeronautics, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aviation Maintenance, Technical Writing, or Technical Communications.
Demonstrated experience using the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex issues, provide concise explanations, and collaborate effectively across teams.
US Citizenship (required for government security clearance).

Desired Skills:

• Technical writing experience
• Aircraft maintenance experience in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, landing gear, structures, canopy, propulsion, general aircraft servicing and inspection (non-avionics focus), with experience in removal, installation, and inspection of aircraft components.
• F-35 maintenance experience
• Familiarity/direct experience with S1000D standards and using SGML/XML, SGML/XML Authoring
• Experience with removal, installation, and inspection of aircraft components
• Experience with flight inspection, hydraulics, and landing gear systems
• Familiarity with reading and interpreting engineering drawings
• F-35 Engineering and Logistics systems experience (JDL – JSF Data Library, PDM – Product Data Manager, ATLAS – Advanced Technical Logistics Applications System, VAS – Visual Augmentation System)

Security Clearance: A government security clearance is required; US Citizenship is mandatory. The position is located at a facility requiring special access.

Work Location & Schedule: Part-time remote telework is available; the specific schedule will be determined during the hiring process. A 4×10-hour day schedule (3 days off per week) is offered. Relocation may be possible.
