Position Summary

The Operations Logistics Intern will play a crucial role in supporting daily operational functions by assisting with critical analyses such as transportation cost analysis, lane optimization, and time studies. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about working with data, observing workflow patterns, and actively contributing to efficiency improvements across our facility. As a Non-Exempt role, this internship offers practical, hands-on experience in a dynamic manufacturing and logistics environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transportation Cost Support: Dive deep into financial data by analyzing freight invoices, meticulously identifying cost discrepancies, and maintaining updated, accurate cost tracking reports to ensure financial efficiency.
  • Lane Optimization: Contribute to strategic logistics planning by reviewing shipment data, evaluating the efficiency of current routing, and supporting in-depth carrier performance analysis to identify areas for improvement.
  • Operational Time Studies: Gain hands-on experience by conducting comprehensive time studies on various warehouse and production tasks. You will be responsible for documenting precise cycle times and identifying critical bottlenecks that hinder operational flow.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Develop robust data management skills by maintaining organized datasets, preparing clear and concise summary reports, and actively supporting the creation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) directly tied to implemented operational improvements.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Analytics, Supply Chain Management, or a closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical aptitude with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including expertise in Pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and other data manipulation functions.
  • Comfortable and adaptable to working environments that include both office settings for data analysis and on the operations floor for observation and data collection.
  • Highly detail-oriented with exceptional communication and organizational skills, capable of managing multiple tasks and communicating findings effectively.
  • Prior experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a definite plus.
