Legend Biotech is currently seeking an Operational Modelling Intern to join its Technical Operations team based in Raritan, NJ.

Role Overview

The Operational Modelling Intern will play a pivotal role in supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the Raritan CAR-T Facility. This will be achieved by enhancing existing and developing new Operational Models that are critical for capacity and resource modelling. The intern will collaborate closely with the Site Strategy and Technical Operations teams to evaluate current Excel-based models, implement significant enhancements, or create novel models and tools as needed to meet evolving business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess and Enhance existing Operational Models (predominantly Excel-based); create new models/tools where identified as necessary.
• Visualize key data points to comprehensively characterize manufacturing operations and effectively test various scenarios.
• Conduct in-depth analysis of equipment and labor utilization, identify bottlenecks, propose process optimization strategies, and perform detailed capacity modelling.
• Collaborate effectively with various stakeholders to ensure that models are aligned with strategic business needs and operational realities.
• Document thoroughly all assumptions, calculations, and validation steps, ensuring strict maintenance of version control for all models and tools.

Requirements

• Academic Qualification: Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program, returning to school after the internship, with a relevant major in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM discipline.
• GPA Requirement: Minimum GPA of 3.5/4.0.
• Desired Academic Grade Level: Junior, Senior, or Graduate Student.
• Technical Proficiency:
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel is mandatory for complex modelling tasks.
  • Proficiency in the broader Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Preferred: Coursework or experience in MATLAB or Python.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with simulation tools.
• Experience & Skills:
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative and independent problem-solving abilities.
  • Willingness to iterate and refine solutions.
  • Preferred: Experience evaluating complex systems with varied inputs.
  • Strategic thinking is a plus.

Special Assignment

A key deliverable for this internship will be to deliver major updates or novel Operational Models designed to effectively visualize manufacturing operations and provide crucial support for strategic decision-making.
