About the Role:
This trainee role focuses on ensuring the smooth coordination of freight post-fixture processes and tasks. You will be responsible for maintaining compliance with contractual obligations, international and port regulations related to freight, vessel hire, and commodity trade. Key responsibilities include:
• Data Management: Maintaining accurate contractual and actual data in the system required for freight, demurrage, or hire processes. Ensuring accuracy of voyage profit and loss results by analyzing and challenging port statements of facts, owners’ statements of accounts, commercial agreements, and other operational information.
• Invoice & Statement Preparation: Analyzing and preparing freight invoices, demurrage, or hire statements strictly adhering to commercial agreements and fair interpretation of relevant documents.
• Communication & Collaboration: Building relationships and maintaining communication with dedicated counterparties, customers, or owners to ensure thorough comprehension of specific invoicing requirements, prompt replies to inquiries, and timely escalation of disputes.
• Risk Analysis & Process Improvement: Conducting standard analysis on risk exposure, process improvement, and contract clauses. Recommending next steps and new contracts to more senior members and the commercial function.
• Problem Solving: Handling basic issues and problems under direct supervision while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
Required Currently pursuings:
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
• Fluency in English
Preferred Currently pursuings:
• Experience handling port operations and ship logistics, marine accounting, and managing key customers in a global matrixed shipping company.
