About the Role

We are seeking a talented onsite Service Intern to join our Summer Internship Program. In this role, you will play a crucial part in our service workshop operations, providing essential support to senior technicians and gaining valuable hands-on experience with chassis and engine systems.

Location & Schedule

  • Program Location: Louisville, KY
  • Specific On-site Work Location: Our Branch in Normal (Please note: The internship program is stated to be in Louisville, KY, while the specific onsite work location is noted as “Our Branch in Normal”.)
  • Work Requirement: 100% On-site. Due to the operational nature and specific job duties, work is required to be completed 100% in person.
  • Program Dates: June 2nd through August 1st (flexible based on school schedule).

Key Responsibilities & Impact

Under direct supervision in a service workshop, you will make an impact by:

  • Assisting senior level Technicians with repairs and maintenance on Chassis products and Engine repair.
  • Disassembling, cleaning, and inspecting chassis and/or chassis components.
  • Providing assistance with diagnosing and troubleshooting engine failures.
  • Maintaining the work area and tools for cleanliness and proper operation.
  • Performing general shop maintenance, including inspecting extension cords, replacing air lines, general upkeep, daily JSA (Job Safety Analysis) reports, welder inspections, and daily time sheets.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications & Requirements

Student Requirements

  • Applies to age 16 and up.
  • Academic Requirement to apply for the 4-year Technician Apprentice Program:
    • Minimum 2.8 unweighted GPA OR
    • ACT score of 22 or higher OR
    • Meet college entry scores for Math, English, and Reading.

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to work in an automotive shop / manufacturing setting.
  • Must be able to lift 35 pounds and physically lift, stand, squat, and kneel frequently.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment as needed.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Mechanical knowledge is preferred.
  • Ability to operate forklifts is preferred.
  • Basic computer software knowledge is preferred.

Compensation & Work Hours

  • Compensation: Minimum $15 per hour.
  • Work Hours:
    • Up to 19 hours per week during the school year (not applicable for this summer program).
    • No work hour restriction during summer months (this is a full-time summer internship).
