Online Statistics Graduate Level Tutor | Varsity Tutors

What You’ll Actually Do
• Instruction: Provide personalized 1-on-1 online tutoring and accept on-demand tutoring requests for graduate-level statistics students.
• Explanation: Explain advanced statistical concepts such as mathematical statistics, maximum likelihood estimation, Bayesian inference, and generalized linear models.
• Guidance: Guide students through complex problem-solving, including likelihood function derivations, posterior distribution calculations, and experimental design.
• Adaptation: Adapt instruction using statistical computing (R or Python), research paper examples, and proof-based exercises to support masters and doctoral students.
• Preparation: Prepare students for research methodology and doctoral-level statistical analysis, connecting theoretical foundations to biostatistics, econometrics, and machine learning applications.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Advanced subject mastery in graduate-level statistics, encompassing mathematical statistics, hypothesis testing theory, regression analysis, multivariate methods, and nonparametric statistics.
• Experience: Proficiency in preparing students for research methodology and doctoral-level statistical analysis, alongside familiarity with graduate statistics curricula and common challenges.
• Skills: Deep knowledge of asymptotic theory and the Neyman-Pearson lemma; ability to break down complex derivations; adeptness at designing experiments and implementing statistical models in software; strong communication skills with an engaging teaching style; and the ability to adapt instruction to diverse learning styles and needs.
