What You’ll Actually Do
• Provide personalized, one-on-one online instruction to individual middle school students.
• Explain complex scientific concepts across life, earth, and physical sciences at an age-appropriate level, preparing students for high school coursework.
• Guide students through understanding the scientific method, designing experiments, analyzing data, interpreting graphs, and writing lab reports.
• Adapt instruction using laboratory activities, interactive models, and multimedia resources to support students’ disciplinary literacy across integrated science topics.
• Utilize AI-powered tools to enhance tutoring sessions, generate lessons, and streamline preparation time.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Possess deep knowledge across various scientific disciplines relevant to middle school curriculum, including Life Science (cells, genetics, ecosystems), Earth Science (plate tectonics, weather, space), Physical Science (forces, energy, chemical reactions), and Scientific Method & Inquiry Skills.
• Experience: Experience explaining complex scientific concepts effectively to middle school learners. Familiarity with middle school science standards for grades six through eight, including Next Generation Science Standards.
• Skills: Advanced subject mastery in middle school science; skilled at breaking down complex concepts and guiding problem-solving; ability to adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles; strong, friendly, and engaging communication skills.
