What You’ll Actually Do
• Teach: Provide personalized 1-on-1 online instruction to individual students, covering advanced Math 3 topics such as polynomial and rational functions, logarithmic and exponential modeling, trigonometric functions and identities, statistics including normal distributions and inference, and geometric modeling with volume and cross-sections.
• Guide: Skillfully break down complex mathematical concepts, including polynomial long division, logarithmic equation solving, and trigonometric identity verification, guiding students through modeling periodic phenomena, analyzing rational function behavior, and performing statistical inference with confidence intervals.
• Support: Prepare students for future academic success by explaining concepts like unit circle values and margin of error, aiming to ready them for precalculus, AP courses, SAT, or college-level mathematics placement and coursework.
• Adapt: Employ adaptive instruction techniques using graphing technology, data analysis projects, and cumulative review strategies, adjusting teaching methods to address common challenges like graphing rational functions or understanding logarithmic scales.
• Connect: Engage proactively with students through scheduled 1-on-1 online tutoring sessions and respond to instant, on-demand tutoring requests whenever available, fostering a strong learning connection.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Demonstrate advanced subject mastery with deep knowledge of polynomial and rational functions, logarithmic and exponential modeling, trigonometric functions and identities, statistics including normal distributions and inference, and geometric modeling with volume and cross-sections. This includes the ability to explain complex concepts such as polynomial division, unit circle values, and margin of error.
• Experience: Possess familiarity with Integrated Math 3 curricula and Common Core standards, understanding common challenges students face like graphing rational functions, comprehending logarithmic scales, and applying the normal distribution. This experience should enable preparing students effectively for AP Mathematics, SAT, or college-level coursework.
• Skills:
* Conceptual Teaching & Problem-Solving: Adept at breaking down difficult mathematical concepts and guiding students through practical applications, such as modeling periodic phenomena, analyzing rational function behavior, performing statistical inference with confidence intervals, and solving geometric design problems. Emphasize mathematical modeling and connecting advanced functions to real-world applications in biology, physics, and financial analysis.
* Curriculum Awareness & Adaptive Instruction: Capable of adapting instruction using a variety of tools like graphing technology and data analysis projects, implementing cumulative review strategies to support student learning needs and styles.
* Effective Teaching & Communication: Exhibit strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style, with the ability to identify common student struggles, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs.
