What You’ll Actually Do
• Instruct: Deliver personalized 1-on-1 and instant online guitar lessons, covering foundational and advanced techniques, theory, and musical expression.
• Guide: Lead students through mastering proper hand positioning, smooth chord transitions, navigation of scale patterns, and refined fingerpicking techniques.
• Support: Prepare students effectively for performances, auditions, and specific music coursework, adapting instruction and resources to their individual progress and challenges.
• Utilize: Leverage Varsity Tutors’ purpose-built Live Learning Platform and AI-powered Tutor Copilot to enhance sessions with real-time support and efficient lesson generation.
• Manage: Independently set your own tutoring hours, manage availability, and handle invoicing for sessions, with all payment processing handled by Varsity Tutors.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Demonstrate advanced subject mastery in guitar technique, including fretting, strumming, fingerpicking, chord voicings, scales, and music theory specific to guitar, with proficiency in tablature and standard notation.
• Experience: Possess a proven ability to teach progressive guitar technique, prepare students for performances and music coursework, and adapt instruction to support learners from absolute beginners to advanced players across various styles.
• Skills: Exhibit strong communication skills, a friendly and engaging teaching style, and the ability to explain complex guitar concepts using multiple approaches to meet diverse learning needs effectively.
