Varsity Tutors operates a Live Learning Platform that leverages advanced technology, AI, and learning science to create personalized learning experiences. This role is crucial for transforming how people learn by providing customized, one-on-one guitar instruction and fostering students’ musical development and understanding.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Deliver personalized 1-on-1 online guitar instruction to individual students.
• Foster students’ musical development and understanding across various guitar styles.
• Guide students through fundamental and advanced guitar techniques, including hand positioning, chord mastery, scale navigation, and fingerpicking.
• Prepare students for specific musical goals such as performances, auditions, or academic coursework.
• Tailor instruction using method books, popular song arrangements, and technique exercises to suit diverse learning needs and styles.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Deep knowledge of guitar technique, music theory for guitar, and an extensive repertoire spanning acoustic, electric, classical, and popular styles.
• Experience: Proficiency in reading tablature and standard notation; demonstrated ability to teach beginner through advanced learners; familiarity with diverse guitar pedagogy methods.
• Skills:
* Ability to explain complex concepts such as barre chords, pentatonic and modal scales, and rhythm patterns using multiple approaches.
* Strong communication skills with a friendly, engaging, and patient teaching style.
* Adept at identifying concepts students commonly struggle with and adapting instruction to individual learning needs.
* Skill in teaching progressive guitar technique, chord transitions, musical expression, and effective practice strategies.
* Capability to connect guitar instruction to broader music theory, songwriting, and ensemble performance.
