What You’ll Actually Do
• Instruct: Deliver personalized 1-on-1 and on-demand online tutoring sessions to students focusing on applied mathematics.
• Explain: Demystify complex applied mathematics topics such as differential equations, numerical methods, and mathematical modeling, making them accessible to students.
• Guide: Facilitate students’ understanding of problem-solving techniques, including formulating real-world problems mathematically and interpreting computational results.
• Adapt: Customize instruction to individual learning styles and needs, utilizing computational tools like MATLAB and Python, and relevant case studies.
• Prepare: Develop students for practical applications of applied mathematics in fields like engineering, physics, finance, and computational science.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Deep knowledge of core applied mathematics topics, including differential equations, numerical methods, linear algebra applications, optimization, mathematical modeling, Fourier analysis, partial differential equations, and complex analysis. Experience supporting advanced undergraduates and graduate students in STEM fields.
• Experience: Familiarity with applied mathematics curricula and common student challenges, alongside the ability to adapt instruction using computational tools like MATLAB and Python, and real-world case studies.
• Skills: Strong conceptual teaching and problem-solving abilities, capable of breaking down complex topics and guiding students through mathematical formulations and iterative solution methods. Excellent communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style, with the capacity to explain material using multiple approaches and adapt to diverse learning styles.
