Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision and guidance to program participants during their substance use disorder counseling internships, fostering a supportive and educational environment.
  • Diligently track and document participant internship hours, ensuring compliance with all certification requirements and regulatory standards.
  • Proactively monitor and facilitate credential renewals for participants, guiding them through necessary processes and paperwork.
  • Engage in effective collaboration with program staff and external contractors to ensure seamless program delivery, participant support, and resource coordination.
  • Maintain a consistent on-site presence within the correctional facility to oversee daily program activities, address participant needs, and provide immediate support.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all program documentation, including participant progress, attendance records, compliance reports, and administrative forms.
  • Contribute to the overall integrity and success of the correctional education program, aligning with its mission to support rehabilitation and skill-building.

Qualifications

  • Certification as an Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Counselor is mandatory.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive treatment experience in substance use disorder counseling, demonstrating a deep understanding of the field.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills with an ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and maintain meticulous records in a dynamic environment.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building rapport with diverse populations, including incarcerated individuals, correctional staff, and external partners.
  • Must possess the ability to successfully obtain and maintain necessary security clearance for working within a correctional facility.
  • A deep commitment to rehabilitation, education, and supporting individuals in their recovery journey and professional development.

Work Environment & Schedule
