This program plays a vital role in rehabilitation, reducing recidivism, and addressing critical community needs.

Role Summary: OMCP Internship Supervisor (IS)

The Internship Supervisor (IS) is a critical on-site role responsible for the successful daily operation and delivery of the OMCP’s internship component. This position involves direct supervision of program participants during their practical training, meticulous tracking of their progress, and ensuring all required documentation for certification is accurately maintained. The IS acts as a bridge between participants, program staff, and external contractors, fostering a supportive and effective learning environment within a correctional setting.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Daily Operations & Supervision: Provide direct, on-site supervision of OMCP participants throughout their internship activities within the correctional facility.
  • Progress Monitoring & Support: Continuously monitor participant progress, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure their successful completion of training requirements.
  • Documentation & Tracking: Accurately track and maintain records of participant internship hours, completed training modules, and all necessary credentials required for substance use disorder certification.
  • Certification Process Assistance: Actively assist participants with understanding and navigating the intricacies of the AOD Counselor certification processes, ensuring timely submission of required paperwork.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Foster strong collaborative relationships with internal program staff, correctional facility personnel, and external contractors to ensure seamless program delivery and participant support.
  • Program Oversight: Oversee general program activities related to participant internships, ensuring adherence to established protocols, curriculum standards, and facility regulations.
  • Participant Success Advocacy: Champion participant success by identifying and addressing potential challenges, providing necessary resources, and maintaining a positive, encouraging atmosphere.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Certification: Must be a certified Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Counselor.
  • Experience: Possess a minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience as a certified AOD Counselor.
  • Knowledge: Demonstrated in-depth knowledge and understanding of the AOD Counselor certification processes and requirements.
  • Security Clearance: Ability to successfully obtain and maintain necessary security clearance to work within a correctional facility environment.
