Program Overview:
Société Générale Global Markets Division (MARK) offers a unique six-to-twelve-month Off-Cycle QR Program designed for hard-working, talented graduates. This program provides in-depth exposure to SG’s Fixed Income and Equity trading floors, Prime Brokerage business, and other banking activities. It presents a significant opportunity with the potential for full-time hire upon successful completion.

Work Schedule:
This role requires a 40-hour per week commitment.

Team & Location:
As an intern, you will be an integral part of the Exotics Applied Research and Development (ARD) team, based in our New York office. You will work within a small and prestigious team of Exotic Quants.

Role Purpose:
The primary goal of this position is to provide quantitative solutions to Traders, Structurers, and Salespeople across the Fixed Income and Equity Exotics desks. You will also play a crucial role in supporting and improving existing quantitative tools and pricing methodologies.

Intern Responsibilities:

  • Quantitative Research and Development (80%):
    • Engage in focused quantitative research with a primary emphasis on enhancing the CDS (Credit Default Swap) margining model.
    • Collaborate with global markets teams to develop and refine quantitative tools.
    • Conduct in-depth studies and contribute to improving the accuracy and efficiency of initial margin calculations for CDS.
  • Python Library Support and Development (15%):
    • Provide essential technical and quantitative support for the existing Python-based pricing and margining library, ensuring its robustness and reliability for CDS margining.
    • Actively contribute to the library’s development to expand its functionality and application, supporting other financial products, derivatives, and margining calculations across various use cases.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration and Delivery (5%):
    • Collaborate effectively with Quantitative Analysts, Risk Management, IT, Operations, and other key stakeholders to ensure the successful execution and delivery of quant projects.

Required Profile:

Société Générale is seeking talented individuals with:

  • Education: A Bachelor, Master, or PhD degree in Mathematics, Financial Engineering, Operations Research, or a similar quantitative field.
  • Programming Skills: Strong skills in programming in Python are essential; knowledge of C# is a significant plus.
  • Problem Solving: A genuine passion for problem-solving.
  • Personal Attributes: Authenticity, innovative thinking, and enthusiasm.
  • Domain Knowledge: Knowledge of equity and interest rate derivatives modeling is a strong plus.
