This is an exciting off-cycle internship opportunity within Macquarie Capital’s high-performing Strategic Equity Transaction team, located in our Tokyo office. This role is central to assisting senior originators and country coverage bankers in the execution of deals across a range of sectors, specifically for structured equity and traditional ECM transactions. The TL;DR

• Team: Strategic Equity Transaction team, collaborating with senior originators and country coverage bankers.
• Mission: To assist in the execution of structured equity and traditional ECM transactions across various sectors for clients.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Deal Execution Support: Assist senior originators and country coverage bankers in the execution of deals across a range of sectors, focusing on structured equity transactions as well as traditional ECM transactions.
• Financial Analysis Preparation: Prepare comprehensive financial analysis that will be used by senior bankers in strategic client and marketing discussions.
• Presentation Material Development: Draft detailed presentations and pitch books tailored for senior bankers to utilize effectively in their client and marketing meetings.
• Internal and External Coordination: Coordinate efficiently with various internal departments and external parties to ensure smooth progress on the team’s complex structured deal executions.
• Early Responsibility and Growth: Take real responsibility from an early stage within a highly collaborative team, being encouraged to take initiative and grow your capabilities with continuous team support.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Students currently in their final year of study or expected to graduate within 12 months.
• Experience: Available for a duration of at least 2 weeks between December 2026 and February 2027, with the potential for further extension.
• Skills: Strong numeric and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail; Excellent communication skills to liaise with stakeholders and colleagues at all levels with ease; Strong bilingual capability with proficiency in both Japanese and English.
