Job Description
Occupational Therapy Assistant Student
Note: This position is only for students needing a rotation for the 2026 Spring Semester (rotation START dates between January through April).
As an Occupational Therapy Assistant Student, you will implement Occupational therapy programs and provide Occupational therapy treatments to patients to facilitate increased independence and functioning, under the direct supervision of a qualified Occupational Therapist and/or Occupational Therapy Assistant.
Responsibilities:
• Implement Occupational therapy programs and provide Occupational therapy treatments to patients to facilitate increased independence and functioning, under supervision.
• Follow all Powerback Rehabilitation policies and procedures.
• Attend and contribute to patient care and staffing conferences as a representative of Occupational therapy, under the direction of the supervising therapist(s).
• Deliver effective and efficient rehab services, adhering to established care plans, schedules, and timely documentation, all under the supervision of the Clinical Instructor.
• Collaborate with the rehabilitation team to develop programs and activities consistent with the needs and capabilities of each patient, under supervision.
• Instruct patients, families, and caregivers in the skills and techniques of the Occupational therapy treatment program, under supervision.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation for all patients treated, under supervision.
• Clean, maintain, identify, and report the need for repair of equipment, as necessary, under supervision.
• Prioritize patient service, ensuring high-quality, compassionate care that respects individual needs and rights, under supervision.
• Implement patient’s individualized treatment plan as established by the primary Occupational Therapist under the supervision of the Clinical Instructor.
• Provide individualized Occupational therapy interventions including application of therapeutic Techniques In Such Areas As, But Not Limited To Under the supervision of the Clinical Instructor:
• cognitive skills
• muscle strength
• coordination
• endurance
• mobility
• perceptual abilities
• sensory awareness
• siting and standing tolerance
• balance
• activities of daily living
• joint protection
• work simplification
• orientation
• physical agent modalities
• Organize and facilitate treatment groups in consultation with the Occupational Therapist and/or Occupational Therapy Assistant.
• Perform other related duties as required, under supervision.
Qualifications:
• Good organizational and time management skills.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
