Job Description:

This is a student Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) position for the 2026 Spring Semester (Rotation START dates between January through April).

The Occupational Therapy Assistant student implements occupational therapy programs and provides occupational therapy treatments to patients to facilitate increased independence and functioning, under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist and/or Occupational Therapy Assistant.

Responsibilities:

• Follow all Powerback Rehabilitation policy and procedures outlined in the on-boarding and orientation process.
• Attend and contribute to patient care, staffing conferences, and other required meetings as a representative of occupational therapy, under the direction of the Occupational Therapist and/or Occupational Therapy Assistant.
• Deliver effective and efficient rehab services; adhere to an established plan of care, department and patient(s)’ schedule, and timely documentation of services with the supervision of the Clinical Instructor.
• Work with other members of the rehabilitation team to develop programs and activities consistent with the needs and capabilities of each patient with the supervision of the Clinical Instructor.
• Instruct patients, families, and other caregivers in the skills and techniques of the occupational therapy treatment program under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist and/or Occupational Therapy Assistant.
• Maintain appropriate and timely documentation for all patients treated with the supervision of the Clinical Instructor.
• Clean, maintain, identify, and report the need for repair of equipment, as necessary with the supervision of the Clinical Instructor.
• Ensure that patients and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals’ needs and rights with the supervision of the Clinical Instructor.
• Implement patient’s individualized treatment plan as established by the primary Occupational Therapist with the supervision of the Clinical Instructor.
• Provide individualized occupational therapy interventions including application of therapeutic techniques in such areas as, but not limited to, the following with the supervision of the Clinical Instructor:
• Cognitive skills
• Muscle strength
• Coordination
• Endurance
• Mobility
• Perceptual abilities
• Sensory awareness
• Siting and standing tolerance
• Balance
• Activities of daily living
• Joint protection
• Work simplification
• Orientation
• Physical agent modalities
• Organize and facilitate treatment groups in consultation with the Occupational Therapist and/or Occupational Therapy Assistant.
• Perform other related dues as required with the supervision of the Clinical Instructor.

• Good organizational and time management skills.
