Nutrition Graduate Intern Description

This is a fantastic opportunity for a nutrition graduate to gain practical experience in nutrition education and make a real impact on the campus community. The role involves collaborating closely with the leadership team to develop skills and gain valuable experience in various areas, including:

Foodservice operations: Understand the workings of a large-scale food service operation.
Nutrient analysis: Learn to evaluate the nutritional content of meals and menus.
Higher education marketing and promotion: Develop marketing materials and strategies to promote healthy eating and dining services.
Nutrition education: Deliver credible nutrition education and engaging wellness programs to students and staff.
Demo Kitchen programming: Participate in planning and executing cooking demonstrations and workshops.
Food safety: Gain knowledge of food safety regulations and practices.

You will work alongside the Campus Dietitian, playing a key role in implementing and promoting dining programs on campus. This includes:

Planning and executing wellness events and Teaching Kitchen programs.
Developing wellness promotional materials and event calendars.
Conducting audits of food allergy stations and menu signage.
Collaborating with the campus dining management team to organize and execute events and wellness projects.
Providing support to the marketing department with nutrition-related promotions.
Attending meetings and events to stay informed and contribute to team discussions.
Contacting students and faculty for private teaching kitchens, providing recipe suggestions, and accommodating dietary restrictions.
Developing shopping lists and coordinating with chefs to acquire ingredients for events.
Creating visually appealing graphics to advertise dining services events and initiatives.

The ideal candidate will possess:

• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
• Customer service experience or knowledge.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated interest and basic knowledge in nutrition.
• Culinary skills (a plus).
• Basic Canva design skills.
• Prior marketing-related experience (a plus).
• A strong work ethic and commitment to teamwork.
• Initiative to research information using evidence-based platforms.
• Professionalism, positive attitude, and a willingness to support colleagues.
• Reliability in meeting deadlines and effectively communicating with supervisors and team members.
• An openness to constructive criticism and feedback for improvement.
• Commitment to working a minimum of 15 hours per week.
• Reliable transportation for commuting to various campus locations.
