Job Description: Nutrition Graduate Intern
Location: 9201 University City Blvd Charlotte, NC
Schedule: To be determined based on class schedule and business needs.
Pay Range: $12.00 per hour.

Job Overview:
As a Nutrition Graduate Intern at Chartwells Higher Education UNC Charlotte, you’ll gain valuable experience in nutrition education and food service operations. You’ll work closely with the campus dietitian and other dining service members to implement and promote dining programs. This role offers hands-on experience in areas like:
• Foodservice Operations: Learn about the ins and outs of running a campus dining program.
• Nutrient Analysis: Gain knowledge in analyzing food content and nutritional value.
• Higher Education Marketing and Promotion: Develop and execute marketing campaigns for nutrition-related initiatives.
• Nutrition Education: Create and deliver engaging wellness programs for students and staff.
• Demo Kitchen Programming: Participate in culinary demonstrations and food preparation events.
• Food Safety: Learn about food safety regulations and best practices.
Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities:
• Plan, organize, and execute monthly wellness events and Teaching Kitchen programs.
• Develop wellness promotional materials and event calendars.
• Conduct audits of food allergy stations and menu signage.
• Collaborate with the campus dining management team on events and wellness projects.
• Support the marketing department with nutrition-related promotions.
• Attend meetings and events to stay informed and contribute to team discussions.
• Contact students and faculty requesting private teaching kitchens, providing recipe suggestions with dietary considerations.
• Develop comprehensive shopping lists and coordinate with chefs for event ingredients.
• Create engaging graphics to advertise dining services events.
• Deliver nutrition education and wellness programs to promote healthy habits.
Expectations:
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
• Customer service experience or knowledge.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated interest and basic knowledge of nutrition.
• Culinary skills (a plus).
• Basic Canva design skills (a plus).
• Prior marketing experience (a plus).
• Strong work ethic, providing assistance to colleagues.
• Initiative to research information using evidence-based platforms.
• Professionalism, positive attitude, and willingness to collaborate.
• Reliability in meeting deadlines and communicating effectively.
• Acceptance of constructive criticism and feedback.
• Commitment to working a minimum of 15 hours per week.
• Reliable transportation for commuting to campus locations.
