Job Description
Job Title: Nursing Graduate – Unlicensed (New Grad RN)
The Nursing Graduate works under the direct line-of-sight supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) in the clinical setting and participates appropriately in the patient care delivery process. This role is designed for individuals orienting to the RN assignment, excluding independent nursing care. Participation in medication administration is possible under the direction and supervision of a licensed RN.
This position is specifically for employees enrolled in the Intermountain Nurse Residency program and actively preparing for, testing, and passing the State Boards examination to obtain an RN license. The Nursing Graduate job can be utilized for up to 12 weeks. Failure to pass the State Board exam a second time, or exceeding the 12-week period without licensure, will result in the employee being unable to remain in this role. Such employees may apply for other open positions for which they qualify (e.g., CNA roles if certified). Failure to either pass boards or secure another position will lead to termination.
Important Note: Registered Nurse graduates must be enrolled and have started coursework in the Intermountain Nurse Residency program before providing any direct patient care, even under licensed RN supervision.
Experienced RNs: An RN with more than one year of nursing experience is not required to attend the nurse residency program and should apply to “Experienced RN” positions only.
