Job Description
Job Title: Nursing Graduate – Emergency Department
About the Job:
The Nursing Graduate position at Intermountain Health Riverton Hospital’s Emergency Department is designed for individuals who have successfully completed an accredited Nursing (RN) education program but have not yet obtained their Registered Nurse (RN) license. This role provides a crucial bridge between academic training and full licensure, allowing graduates to gain hands-on clinical experience under direct supervision.
The incumbent will participate in the patient care delivery process, orient to the RN assignment, and may participate in medication administration, all under the direct line-of-sight supervision of a licensed Registered Nurse (RN). This role excludes independent nursing care.
Program Structure and Requirements:
- This position is utilized for up to 12 weeks while the employee is enrolled in the Intermountain Nurse Residency program and is preparing for, testing, and passing the State Boards examination to obtain an RN license.
- Employees must be enrolled in and have started coursework in the Intermountain Nurse Residency program before providing any direct patient care.
- If the Nursing Graduate fails the State Board exam a second time, or after the 12-week period concludes without obtaining licensure, the employee can no longer remain in the Nurse Graduate job.
- Affected employees can apply for other open jobs they qualify for (e.g., CNA). Failure to either pass boards or be hired into another job will result in termination.
- An RN with more than one year of nursing experience is not required to attend the nurse residency program and should apply to “Experienced RN” positions only.
