Job Description:

Position Objective:

The position aims to contribute to high-quality and cost-effective healthcare by providing direct patient care and collaborating with the healthcare team. The individual should be self-motivated in performing basic nursing care tasks and participate in the team nursing concept, completing delegated tasks from the assigned nurse.

Essential Job Duties:

Direct Patient Care: Provides direct care to patients, focusing on personal hygiene, daily morning and bedtime care, and comfort. Implements and maintains safety measures and comfort care for patients.
Patient Admission: Assists with patient admission by greeting, performing initial weight measurement, taking vital signs, assisting with disrobing (if necessary), and orienting the patient to their room and equipment.
Patient Discharge: Prioritizes patient discharge by assisting with dressing, gathering belongings, and providing transport to the lobby (if necessary). Removes equipment and supplies from the room for cleaning.
Data Collection and Recording: Participates in patient care by taking vital signs, monitoring intake and output, collecting other data, and recording information according to policy and procedure. Obtains specimens as requested using approved procedures. Assists patients with mobilization and/or positioning as ordered by the physician or unit protocol.
Patient Condition Monitoring: Recognizes and reports pain, patient complaints, or any obvious changes in a patient’s condition to the assigned nurse.
Staff Orientation: Participates in the orientation of new staff, acting as a mentor when necessary and requested.
Medication Transport: Transports medications (when necessary during patient transport) in accordance with policies and procedures regarding medication security. Ensures that medication is delivered to authorized personnel.
Supply Management: Maintains adequate levels of supplies and equipment on the unit.
Patient Transport: Transports patients according to established safety policies.
Order Processing: Processes written medical staff orders according to established policies and procedures, communicating STAT or urgent orders to the care provider.

Educational/Experience Requirements:

• Must be currently enrolled in an accredited registered nursing program.
• Preferred Experience: Successful completion of the first year of the clinical nursing program. Completion of one clinical semester required.

Required License/Certifications:

• CNA through the MD Board of Nursing.
• American Heart Association HealthCare Provider BLS.

Working Conditions, Equipment, Physical Demands:

• Employees in this position may be exposed to blood-borne pathogens.
Physical Demands: Medium work, involving exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
