The Tone:
This is a full-time residency program at ChristianaCare, with clinical experiences at the Christiana and Wilmington Hospitals in Delaware. ChristianaCare is an accredited healthcare organization committed to supporting new nurses, and this role is crucial for developing graduate nurses into professional caregivers. This program aims to provide a strong foundation for nursing practice, ensuring higher success rates for nurses with less than a year of experience.

• Mission: To support graduate nurses with under a year of experience through a comprehensive residency program to build a strong foundation for nursing practice across multiple units.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Program Completion: Complete a 12-month nurse residency program that integrates educational components with clinical experiences.
• Clinical Training: Engage in up to 18 weeks of preceptor-led clinical experiences on medical, surgical, and step-down units at Christiana and Wilmington Hospitals.
• Skill Development: Train in ACLS, dysrhythmia, and step-down competencies to enhance critical care skills.
• Unit Floating: Float between Wilmington and Christiana Hospitals on medical, surgical, step-down, and transitional care units upon successful program completion.
• Professional Growth: Participate in continued residency meetings during months 8, 10, and 12 to further develop as a professional nurse and integral member of the caregiver team.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Graduating from an accredited nursing school; Entry-Level career.
• Experience: Less than 12 months of nursing experience by the start of the program.
• Skills: BLS required; eligible for and obtain a Delaware license as a Registered Nurse prior to the start date; willing and able to work all shifts, including day, evening, and overnight, weekends, and holidays; commit to working two years with ChristianaCare post-residency, including a minimum of 15 months on the unit of hire, with a $10,000 charge for non-completion.
