About Company (4/5 Medical Unit)
The 4/5 Medical unit is a 40-bed medical unit dedicated to the care of adult patients with a wide variety of medical diagnoses. This includes, but is not limited to: COPD, CHF, Diabetes type 1 and 2, renal failure, infections diseases, heart/circulatory disorders, neurological disorders, stable acute illnesses, addiction, and mental health needs.
The unit maintains Parkview’s standard 5:1 nurse to patient ratio and offers flexible scheduling. 4/5 Medical nurses are described as team-focused, striving to support each other and their patients. The environment is presented as one that provides a strong foundation for a nursing career and fosters a team dynamic that “feels more like family.” The unit also highlights internal career progression, showcasing an example of a nurse who advanced from Patient Care Technician to Registered Nurse within the department.
Job Description (Nurse Leader – NL)
This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus.
The Nurse Leader (NL) is responsible for developing a comprehensive view of patients, family, and caregivers by establishing strong partnerships to ensure optimal care. The NL facilitates the delivery of optimal patient care by the healthcare team through delegation, facilitation, collaboration, critical thinking, and prioritization. They are accountable for the management of care and the care environment, ensuring effective communication among all members of the healthcare team.
The NL is expected to independently plan and provide excellent professional nursing care in adherence to physician orders, established hospital and departmental policies and procedures, American Nurses Association Standards of Clinical Practice, the Indiana Nurse Practice Act, and the ANA Code of Ethics.
Education Requirements:
• Must obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within three years of employment to remain in the role.
• Coursework for the BSN must be completed outside of work hours.
• Nurses with an Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) hired/rehired or transferred from a non-nursing position prior to December 1, 2017, are grandfathered and not required to obtain a BSN.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
• A valid Registered Nurse License for the State where services will be provided is required.
• Must possess current CPR certification.
• Additional certifications may be required for specified areas.
• Addendums are noted for specific RN roles (0153 Nurse Leader, 0249 Registry RN, 0252 Registered Nurse, 0235 Advanced Registered Nurse, and 0236 Expert Registered Nurse).
Experience Requirements:
• Must have 2-3 years of experience in the area of specialty for which the NL role is being applied.
Other Qualifications:
• Good verbal and written communication skills are essential.
