Position Overview:
The Nurse Intern I/II delivers patient-centered care by performing delegated basic patient care services related to nursing functions and activities of daily living. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), the Nurse Intern I/II assists in providing patient care in accordance with their skill/training and the needs of the Department, and helps maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment.
• Nurse Intern I: Currently enrolled and in good standing in an accredited nursing school. Has completed the first semester of a medical-surgical rotation (Fundamentals of Nursing) in a two-year ADN program or in the second year of a three-year BSN program. Can perform higher-level procedures in accordance with their school’s skill checklist, and skill validation is achieved.
• Nurse Intern II: Currently enrolled and in good standing in an accredited nursing school. Has completed all coursework and is entering the final semester (ADN) or final year of a BSN program. Can perform higher-level procedures in accordance with their school’s skill checklist, and skill validation is achieved.
Required Qualifications:
• Currently enrolled and in good standing in an accredited nursing school (ACEN or CCNE accredited).
• Completion of the first semester of a medical-surgical rotation in a two-year ADN program or in the second year of a three-year BSN program (Nurse Intern I).
• A senior in good standing in an ADN or BSN program accredited by ACEN or CCNE (Nurse Intern II).
• Maintains a GPA of 3.0.
• Letter of recommendation from nursing school faculty.
• Signed and completed Student Nurse Skills Checklist from the school.
• If moving from a Nurse Intern I, must also have a letter of endorsement from Department Manager or Director (Nurse Intern II).
• Demonstrates good verbal, written, and computer communication skills.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Compensation:
• Salary Range: $27-$28.00 per hour.
• Note: Newly hired employees are often placed below the midpoint of the range. Pay for PRN positions is calculated differently.
