Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Nurse Extern, you will be a valued member of the nursing team, gaining hands-on experience and exploring the full scope of the Registered Nurse role. You will contribute to delivering safe, compassionate care that improves patients’ lives while building essential skills and confidence for your nursing career.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide essential patient care, including assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), checking vital signs, supporting mobility, and ensuring patient comfort and hygiene.
• Perform nursing tasks such as wound care, catheter care, collecting specimens, and other basic procedures as your experience and competency grow.
• Accurately document care and communicate timely updates with the nursing team to ensure seamless and coordinated patient care.
• Assist patients and families in understanding their care plans and provide guidance for their health and recovery.
• Maintain clean and safe patient areas by adhering to infection prevention practices, managing equipment, and organizing the environment.
• Champion your professional growth and enhance patient care by engaging in learning opportunities, sharing ideas for improvement, and collaborating with your supervisor or preceptor to develop your personal career plan.

Qualifications:

• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• Associate Degree or Bachelor’s Degree.
