About the Job
ABC7 is seeking a NextGen Intern to join their team. The intern will learn aspects of broadcast television and digital production skills, with a focus on video, audio, photography, writing, and design for marketing, community engagement, and news content. The intern will work with other teams on various projects throughout the internship, including News, Programming, Sales, and the President/General Manager’s office.
Responsibilities
• Learn, connect, and understand the company’s mission and learn the production workflow in order to contribute to content creation
• Support content producers, assist on shoots and events, and write copy for digital platforms
• Produce content with supervision and identify areas where you could bring a new perspective
• Lead and develop ideas with ABC7’s NextGen Youth Advisory Council
Qualifications
• Experience with creating content on a variety of social media platforms, as well as using social media platforms to engage with an audience
• Experience or completed coursework in community engagement, social justice, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), or a related area
• Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in video production, filming and editing video, and/or with working with Adobe Premiere or similar software
• Previous experience (academic or internship) in digital media and/or journalism (broadcast/print/digital)
• Education: Undergraduate students in their Junior or Senior year or recently graduated within the past 6 months preferred
Eligibility Requirements & Internship Information
• Candidates must meet all of the below requirements:
• Be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months at the time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship
• Be at least 18 years of age
• Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program
• Possess unrestricted work authorization
Additional Information
• Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship
• The approximate dates of this internship are June 2024 through early January 2025
• Fully available to work 20 hours per week during a Monday through Sunday schedule (hours and days to be determined by your supervisor and could include nights, weekends, and holidays)
• Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program in the San Francisco, California area
• Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work
• The pay rate for this internship in California is $18.07 per hour. Select benefits may be provided as part of the compensation package, such as medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
