Job Title: News Intern (Telemundo62 Philadelphia)

Internship Overview:
Telemundo62 Philadelphia is seeking News Interns to provide an immersive learning experience within the news industry. Interns will gain insights into the daily operations of a newsroom, have opportunities to accompany reporters and crews on stories, and contribute to team news stories for online platforms and demo reels.

Key Responsibilities and Learning Areas:

• Assignment Desk:
• Conduct beat checks and perform data entry for current and future news assignments.
• Assist with phone calls, and the sorting/distribution of newsroom mail.
• Coordinate guests and facilitate tape dubs.
• Opportunity to shadow news crews in the field.
• Reporting/Writing/Producing/Editing:
• Coordinate guests for segments and assist in gathering them.
• Log sound bites and perform data entry for future files.
• Opportunity to shadow news crews in the field and/or field produce on occasion.
• Experience with non-linear editing is helpful.
• Consumer/Investigative Research:
• Perform background research in collaboration with consumer and political reporters.
• Communicate with contacts, follow up on emails, and assist in setting up stories.
• Screen calls and emails to identify potential story ideas.
• Opportunity to shadow news crews in the field.
• Photojournalism:
• Understand and practice ethical journalism.
• Understand and practice safety guidelines when in the field.
• Learn the fundamentals of photojournalism.
• Learn the fundamentals of video editing.
• Display a positive work ethic and the ability to work effectively under tight deadlines.
• Weather/Meteorology:
• Gather, analyze, and interpret data from various sources to develop weather forecasts.
• Create weather graphics, maps, and reports.
• Monitor real-time weather events.
• Work closely with senior meteorologists, attend team briefings, and support daily editorial or research tasks.
• Assist with updating social media content or other related tasks as needed.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Language: Must be fluent in Spanish.
• Education: Must be actively pursuing an Associate, Bachelor, or Graduate degree at an accredited institution.
• Academic Standing: Current class standing of sophomore or above.
• Age: Must be 18 years of age or greater.
• Work Authorization: Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
• Location: Must be willing to work in Philadelphia, PA.
• Background Check: Must be willing to submit to a background investigation.
