New Graduate Nurse – Nurse Residency Program | UNC Health Rex

• Team: Rex 6 East Short Stay Unit, reporting to Nurse Manager/Director
• Mission: Coordinates and delivers patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Provide competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards, coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process.
• Assess patient needs from complex situations, including physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects, to prioritize and anticipate discharge planning.
• Collaborate with patients and families to prepare and update care plans, utilizing available multidisciplinary resources effectively.
• Develop your professional knowledge by identifying and addressing personal learning needs, attending education programs, and participating in continuous learning.
• Contribute to unit goals and performance improvement activities, fostering a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment for all.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing; if hired after January 6, 2014, must enroll in and obtain a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with a major in Nursing within specified timeframes.
• Experience: Qualifies as a new graduate nurse, defined as a nursing student in their final semester, a nursing graduate within 12 months, or an RN with less than six months of experience.
• Skills: Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina by the day of clinical care, and Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
