Job Description: NBC News Internship – Chicago

Location: Chicago, IL

Program Dates: June 2 – August 8, 2025

Time Commitment: 40 hours per week (schedule determined based on business needs).

Description:

This internship provides the opportunity to support coverage of the Midwest region for NBC’s flagship broadcast network shows, including *TODAY• and *NIGHTLY NEWS*, as well as cable and online platforms like *MSNBC• and *NBC News Now*.

Responsibilities:

• Provide editorial support to the NBC news assignment desk, including:
• Making phone calls.
• Booking interviews.
• Logging press conferences.
• Assist producers with location support, including:
• Booking travel.
• Scouting live shot positions.
• Pitch, research, and develop stories for various platforms.

Qualifications:

Basic Requirements:

• Actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the entire program duration (June 2025 – August 2025).
• May 2025 graduates are not eligible.
• Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits).
• Must be authorized to work for any employer in the US without requiring work visa sponsorship from NBCUniversal.
• Willingness to work in Chicago, IL.

Desired Characteristics:

• Class standing of junior or above preferred.
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Strong interest in the media industry.
• Commitment to building an inclusive work environment.
• Previous internship experience and on-campus involvement.
• Strong interest and knowledge of current affairs.
• Desired majors: Journalism or Broadcast Journalism, Digital/New Media Studies, Communications, Production.

hourly Rate: $17.50
