Job Description

NAPA Counter Sales Associate

We are so much more than a Parts Store and we are looking for even more great talent to join our NAPA family! As a NAPA Counter Sales Associate, you are truly the “face of the retail store” and the go-to person for our customers as soon as they walk through our doors, ready to assist them with all their automotive needs. While you don’t need to be able to tear down a motor and rebuild it (though if you can, that’s awesome!), a background and knowledge of automotive parts are essential.

This role offers a fantastic opportunity whether you’re looking to build a long-term career as a Parts Specialist, seeking full or part-time work, or simply want to get your foot in the door to explore other career paths within NAPA – we welcome you to our team!

What You Will Be Doing

  • Provide expert auto parts answers and solutions for both our retail and wholesale customers, in person at the counter and over the phone.
  • Utilize your parts knowledge to support other NAPA team members in assisting customers with their inquiries.
  • Deliver outstanding customer care and positive interactions with every individual who visits our NAPA Store!
  • Bring a strong customer focus and high energy to our fast-paced retail environments.
  • Welcome retail customers into our stores, engaging with them to ensure a positive and helpful consumer experience.
  • Effectively use various tools including computer systems, cash registers, telephones, and our comprehensive paper catalog system.

This Is The Right Opportunity For You If You

  • Genuinely enjoy helping our retail and wholesale customers with their auto parts and service questions.
  • Have gained your parts experience by working within the automotive industry, or through years of tinkering with and repairing cars & trucks.
  • Are willing to learn all things automotive, even if you don’t yet have an extensive background in automotive parts.
  • Want to join a team where you can learn and grow your career – with endless opportunities for advancement!

What You’ll Need

  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Previous experience in a parts store or the automotive industry, or at least a strong willingness to learn all things auto parts.
  • High School Diploma or GED. Technical or Trade school courses or a degree are a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A love for fast-paced retail environments.
  • Great listening skills and empathy for customers.

And if you have this, even better (not a deal breaker if you don’t):

  • Background and/or passion for the automotive industry, heavy equipment, farm industry, diesel, marine, or dealership experience.
  • Experience in a parts store, auction, retail store, or auto body/collision shop.
  • Knowledge of cataloging AND/OR inventory management systems is a significant plus.
  • Demonstrated customer-centric approach (external/internal).
  • ASE Certifications.

What’s In It For You

  • Awesome people and a strong, recognizable brand.
  • Competitive Pay.
  • Outstanding health benefits and a 401K plan.
  • A stable company environment – we are a Fortune 200 company with a “family” feel.
  • A culture that promotes from within, encourages creativity, problem-solving, and where no two days or career paths are the same!
  • Great training and ongoing development with robust support from multiple leaders and your team.
