Within CSIS, the iDeas Lab is an award-winning creative and digital production department. This lab is responsible for enhancing CSIS’s policy research and analysis through audio, video, design, and web products. It operates as a highly collaborative creative environment, structured around three main sub-teams: video/audio production, web development, and design. The iDeas Lab partners with renowned foreign policy experts and researchers to tell compelling public policy stories. Job Description: Multimedia Production Internship (iDeas Lab)

This is a full-time (35 hours/week), paid multimedia production internship within the iDeas Lab at CSIS, located in Washington D.C. The internship is structured to provide aspiring professionals with practical experience, hard-skill building, and the opportunity to expand their professional portfolios.

Duration & Schedule:
The internship requires a commitment from mid-June 2025 to early September 2025, implying a duration of approximately three months.

Compensation:
The position is paid hourly, commensurate with the intern’s educational background:
$17.50/hour for current undergraduate hires.
$18.50/hour for hires with a bachelor’s degree.
$19.50/hour for hires with a master’s degree.

Role Summary:
The multimedia production intern will primarily support the multimedia producers, focusing on video and audio production assignments. The role involves contributing to a wide range of creative efforts across various CSIS issue areas, working closely with the entire iDeas Lab department. The ideal candidate is a creative, energetic, self-starter with a passion for video and a strong desire to experience different facets and phases of digital media production.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Serving as the primary video editor for CSIS vertical video series, such as “Asked and Answered,” and YouTube versions of various CSIS podcasts.
Producing videos for CSIS video series including “The ReCap” and “Testify.”
• Assisting with studio set-up and editing of video interviews.
• Sourcing B-roll and music for CSIS video products, and providing assistance with pre-production research as needed.
Editing full-length podcast episodes and other audio features using Adobe Audition.
Curating video and audio content for CSIS websites, social media platforms, and other content delivery networks.
• Assisting other iDeas Lab sub-teams (developers, producers, and designers) with various tasks as needed.

Knowledge, Education, and Experience Requirements:
Strong candidates for this internship should possess:
• A B.A./B.S. in a relevant field, or be a rising senior pursuing such a degree.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities.
• Experience with Adobe Suite is a plus.
Strong attention to detail, initiative, and follow-through skills.
• Eligibility to work in the United States.
