Overview
Bath & Body Works offers a 10-week summer internship program for rising university seniors, providing a comprehensive view of the various functional areas within specialty retail. Interns will work alongside and learn from experienced BBW associates who will provide training, development, and engagement.
This internship program is a key driver of their early career talent pool, offering realistic job previews and meaningful projects and assignments. Interns are encouraged to contribute their ideas and insights, which are valued and used to influence the business.
Program Area: Merchandising
Merchant insights are the driving force behind Bath & Body Works. From research to idea and concept to reality, merchants are driven to deliver what customers want now and in the future. They possess deep customer insights, understand the speed and agility necessary to compete, and foster strong relationships with internal partners (marketing, planning, development, visual) and outside vendors. Design, color, product assortment, and placement – it’s all the little decisions that make a big difference in whether or not customers say, “I’ll take it!” Internship opportunities are available for both Stores and Digital.
Responsibilities:
• Execution of the product development process from conception to in-store/online launch: Interns will be involved in the entire process, from initial ideas to the final product being available to customers.
• Developing a line plan that represents the Brand and is aligned with the seasonal merchandise strategy: This involves creating a plan for the assortment of products that will be offered each season, ensuring it reflects the brand’s image and fits within the overall merchandise strategy.
• Preparing competitive intelligence, customer intimacy, fashion radar, and business analysis to achieve volume and profit goals: Interns will analyze competitors, customer preferences, and market trends to make informed decisions about product development and assortment.
• Conducting in-depth financial research and analysis including sales, margin, inventory, and mark-down analysis: Interns will analyze financial data to evaluate the performance of products and make recommendations for future strategies.
• Maintaining sample status and quality: Interns will be responsible for managing product samples, ensuring they are in good condition and available when needed.
• Conducting in-store visits to gain customer and product insights: Interns will interact with customers to understand their needs and preferences, and gain insights into how products are performing in stores.
Currently pursuings:
• University current juniors pursuing their bachelor’s degree and in good academic standing
• Must be able to work 40 hours per week during summer 2025
• May 27th-August 1st (required dates) No extended PTO
• Computer fluency with programs such as Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel
• Innate curiosity and desire to learn, strong analytical and logical thinking skills
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize
• Have a strong passion for retail
Preferred Currently pursuings:
• Previous internship, customer service or leadership experience
• Ability to manage through conflict and problem-solve
• Strong communication and presentation skills; can concisely present complex information/recommendations in terms meaningful to various audiences
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment
