Job Description: Merchandise Analyst Intern

This internship opportunity is for a Merchandise Analyst Intern and is available for immediate start, seeking candidates who can begin as soon as possible rather than during the summer.

Job Summary:
In this role, you will work closely with the Local Merchandising/Marketing teams, primarily providing support to the Category and Merchandise Manager Team, as well as assisting store operations and vendor partners in the daily functions of their categories. A key part of your responsibility will be to conduct analysis of category performance, industry trends & insights, and generally support the Merchandise Department.

The ideal candidate is described as having solid analytical and prioritization skills, along with the crucial ability to translate raw data into actionable insights.

Essential Functions (Key Responsibilities):

Vendor & Item Management Support: Assist Category and Merchandise Managers with daily local vendor contact, addressing all issues related to item setup, pricing, costs, product logistics, and in-stock levels.
Merchandise Performance Analysis: Conduct in-depth analysis of merchandise performance across various levels, including department, cluster, vendor, item, and location. This also involves evaluating store, regional, and business unit performance based on pricing, promotion, and item assortment metrics.
Data Visualization & Communication: Organize, summarize, and visualize complex data findings into meaningful insights that can be effectively communicated to non-analytical peers.
Tool & Model Development: Leverage technical expertise to conceptualize and develop new, reusable tools, models, and approaches to provide partners with valuable insights and recommendations to achieve business goals.
Planogram Support: Understand, analyze, and provide support and recommendations to Category and Merchandise Managers for all aspects related to local planogram assortment, planning, and process.
Promotional & Pricing Execution: Collaborate on promotional and pricing management, and execute associated local activities.
Operational Excellence: Perform any other duties as assigned to contribute to the operational excellence of the business unit.
Professional Development: Maintain professional and technical knowledge through attending educational workshops, reading professional publications, establishing personal networks, or participating in professional societies.
Team Contribution: Contribute to the team effort by achieving determined Financial and Key Result Area targets in line with Company Plan guidelines.

Qualifications:

Education: Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Management, Business Economics, Marketing, or a related field is preferred.
Experience: Retail experience is preferred, but not necessary. Experience in Power BI is preferred.
Skills:
• Demonstrate a radical curiosity for retail and the constantly changing marketplace.
• Must be detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
• Possess strong presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.
Other: Must possess a valid Driver’s License supported by a clean driving record.

The role requires the ability to:
• Sit for long periods of time.
• Operate a computer keyboard and mouse for data entry.
• View a computer monitor.
• Hear and speak via telephone.
• Reach forward and/or overhead.
• Occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.

Work Environment:
The typical work environment characteristics include:
• A moderate noise level, usually within a normal range.
• Lighting that includes both natural light from outside and fluorescent lighting throughout the work areas.
• The ability to work with minimum direction and periodic supervision.
